Shalewa is a mother of two teenagers and an advocate for individuals with learning disabilities. She graduated from N.C. Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a minor in Physics. Having a love for Math, algorithms and dealing with numbers her career path after college started her down the path of being a computer programmer.

Shalewa is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a member of Women in Cyber Security Mid-Atlantic, a member of the NAACP and a member of many diversity committees within her company. In January 2021, Shalewa started a women’s organization that focuses on nurturing, educating, and transforming women of color into sophisticated, cultured women who own property, are health conscious and have financial security. This organization gives woman the opportunities to come together and discuss issues and concerns that most women go through and struggle on their own. This organization represents a safe zone for women to share and get sisterly feedback and guidance.
