Dining Etiquette

One of the Five (5) stars for this organization is sophistication. If we look at the definition of sophistication it says "The process or result of becoming cultured, knowledgeable or disillusioned." A woman who possesses sophistication has a wide and refined knowledge of the world especially from personal experience. It was definitely important to give the members of this organization this personal experience within the topic of dining etiquette.

On November 19th at 7:00pm the ladies arrive at Citron Restuarant dressed and ready to learn dinning etiquette. The workshop would teach them proper dining behavior while eating a Five (5) course meal. The menu had been previously selected and the theme was seafood. Ms. Shelia the facilitator shared what is acceptable from the time of arrival at a dining until the meal was concluded. Here are few things that were covered:

  • Where to place your purse at the table

  • Place settings for different courses

  • How to butter and eat your bread

  • The difference between white & red wine glasses and how to hold a wine glass

  • Which utensil to used and where to place them once you are done eating

  • How to hold the utensils and cut your food

  • Where to place your napkin once you have completed your meal

Since this workshop was a safe space for learning the ladies asked lots of questions to get a better understand of what is acceptable and what is not. One of the most valuable lessons from the evening was that you always defer and follow the lead of your host. Etiquette is truly around having manners and not making others feel uncomfortable.

At the very end of the workshop, Ms. Shelia gave each lady a take home gift that outlined dining etiquette tips. She truly displaced grace and elegance.

The evening was a success the ambiance was elegant, the ladies looked stunning and the food was delicious. A beautiful evening with some amazing women. Definitely a Five Star Event!
